FakeApp: the new bug of the most popular messaging platform

Kirey

The researchers at Check Point Software Technologies, of which KS - Kirey Group has been a historical partner for over 17 years, have recently discovered a flaw in the popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp.

The malicious code developed by Israeli experts, christened FakeApp, would allow you to modify messages sent either through groups or through private chats, intercepting them and potentially modifying their content.

Both Checkpoint and WhatsApp have guaranteed that they have not "surprised" up to now actual intrusions and attempts to manipulate cited messages. The biggest risk for IT security experts is that the flaw can be used to spread false news, starting with what appears to be a secure source.
